We are too fractured, too much individualist, which is usually a good thing but not here. That's why I think we will go to the very brink before action is taken and then hope it isn't too late.
I'm afraid you're right. Even though we champion individualism/self-determination, that self-determination is only made possible by a united commitment to liberty. I must be free to choose my path before I can walk it. The purpose of the American Experiment isn't to make each person happy, it's to set each person free. That's our _common_ goal. What we do with that freedom -- how we pursue happiness -- is where individualism begins.
Unfortunately, I've reached the same conclusion you have: when it comes to the growing globalist tyranny, most people are just going to bury their heads in the sand. As a country, we've largely taken our eyes off the ball of liberty. When faced with specious COVID scaremongering, many of us willingly forfeited our rights without considering how we would ever get them back. As if that wasn't enough, anyone who expressed concern about civil liberties -- you know, the whole point of America -- was demonized, if not fired or imprisoned. We are really far afield of our founding principles.
I think a lot of people will eventually realize that they have to choose between resistance and slavery, but, like you said, I hope that resistance doesn't come too late.

Exactly. Well said as usual!
