Only One Path to God?
What we should expect if there is only one path to God
We should expect evil to promote tolerance
If only path leads to life, all other paths lead to death
If there were only one legitimate path to God, and an evil force working to keep people from it, I would expect that evil force to embrace all other alleged paths. I would expect it to preach tolerance for those paths out of one side of its mouth while spewing venom against the true path out of the other. I would expect it to characterize the one true path as narrow-minded for failing to embrace alternate routes, and hateful for telling other travelers they were headed in the wrong direction.
But if there is only one legitimate path, then all other paths are necessarily illegitimate. All other paths do lead elsewhere regardless of their advertised destination, and all travelers on them are going the wrong way. If there is only one legitimate path to God, telling people about it is love, not hatred, just as telling someone he's headed off a cliff may harm his pride but save his life.
