Newtown and the Exploitation of Dead Children
The Left is fine with child murder, but not with guns
The tragedy is murder, not guns
Guns ≠ crimes
Gun-free zones only help criminals
If you’re horrified by what Adam Lanza did with guns (and you should be), you won’t believe what Adolf Hitler did with ovens.
I find myself almost befuddled by the willingness of so many people to shift moral responsibility away from a determined murderer and onto an inanimate object with no will of its own. Would we be more comforted had Lanza used a pipe bomb or IED for the same purpose? Had he poisoned the school’s food or water supply, or blown-up a bus on its morning route, would our suffering be more greatly assuaged? Of course not. Twenty-six people – most of them children -- are dead because Adam Lanza murdered them. That he did so with guns is completely incidental next to the fact that he did so at all.
Instead of debating whether I should be permitted to own a gun, we ought to be asking why nothing horrific has occurred as a consequence of the fact that I do. When Lanza holds a Glock, children die, but when I hold a Glock, no one does. This is not because I’m a bad shot, it’s because I don’t kill people, and neither do the millions of other gun owners across the country. For us to dismiss human decisions as a factor in human behavior is either unparalleled idiocy or devious political chicanery.
The murders in Newtown, CT showcased for the entire world the total impotence of Liberalism. It is a philosophy utterly unfit to cope with reality, and places at risk all who depend upon it for security. By declaring Sandy Hook Elementary School a Gun Free Zone, law-abiding citizens were prevented from carrying the means to stop law-breaking ones like Adam Lanza. It may as well have been declared an Adam Lanza Free Zone for all the good it did. Posting signage and shackling decent people in an effort to deter criminality is as appallingly stupid as it sounds, and there are twenty-six fresh graves to prove it.
